The latest stage of the Fencing World Cup is underway, with Azerbaijan’s women’s sabre team wrapping up its performance in Lima, Peru.
The national team—composed of Palina Kaspiarovich, Sabina Karimova, and Zarifa Huseynova—faced Japan in the round of 16. The Asian team, which advanced to the final, secured a 45:37 victory, Idman.biz reports.
In the placement matches for 9th–16th places, Azerbaijan defeated Hong Kong (45:36) but later lost to Spain (35:45). In the battle for 11th–12th place, the team fell to Germany with a score of 38:45, ultimately finishing 12th overall.
In the individual competition, Palina Kaspiarovich reached the round of 16. Meanwhile, Sabina Karimova and Zarifa Huseynova finished within the top 100 among over 140 participants.
