Azerbaijani fencer Vahab Fatullayev has won a bronze medal at the Cadet-Junior Párbajtőr Magyar Kupa 3 international tournament in Budapest, Hungary.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Fatullayev competed in the junior men's individual épée event held on September 26-27 and finished third among 149 participants.
The tournament featured fencers from Azerbaijan, Hungary, Austria, China, Ireland, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia.
Fatullayev produced a perfect performance in the group stage, winning all six of his bouts.
The Azerbaijani épée fencer continued his successful run in the knockout stage, defeating representatives of China and Hungary on his way to the semifinals.
In the quarterfinals, Fatullayev defeated Hungary's Ákos Kubinger 15-10. He then faced Edmond Ventzel in the semifinals, losing a close contest 13-15.
As a result, Fatullayev completed the tournament with a bronze medal.
