The U23 European Fencing Championship has concluded in Tallinn, Estonia.
The Azerbaijani men’s sabre team, consisting of Magsud Huseynli, Murad Akbarov, Saleh Mammadov, and Aykhan Khasiyev, secured 9th place in the team competition, Idman.biz reports.
In the match for a spot in the top eight, our team lost to Ukraine with a score of 42:45. However, in the 9-16 placement matches, they triumphed over Romania (45:42) and Germany (45:41).
In the individual men’s sabre competition, Saleh Mammadov made it into the top "16." Magsud Huseynli, Murad Akbarov, and Aykhan Khasiyev advanced through the group stage but were eliminated in the playoffs.
In the individual men’s épée competition, Vahab Fatullayev finished the group stage with three wins and advanced to the playoffs, where he was eventually defeated.
Additionally, Javanshir Aghakishiyev officiated in the sabre events of the championship.
