“Our main goal is to qualify for Division A.”
These words were said in an interview with AZERTAC by the head coach of Azerbaijan’s beach soccer national team, Sahib Mammadov, while speaking about their goals for the European Beach Soccer League (EBSL) final stage, which will be held September 7–15 in Viareggio, Italy, Idman.biz reports.
The specialist assessed the team’s chances in Group A of Division B: “On paper, we are the group’s favorites. But that’s not enough. You must also show it on the field. The group is fine for us. We want to achieve good results. As for our opponents, we had a big win over Belgium in the first qualifying round of the European Championship held in Spain. Our other rival, Lithuania, is stronger than Belgium. I know this team well because I worked there for five years.”
The final stage of Division B will consist of two groups, each with three teams. The top two teams from each group will meet in the semifinals on September 13, while the final and third-place match will take place on September 14. Azerbaijan will face Belgium on September 11 and Lithuania on September 12.
