Azerbaijani badminton player Hajar Nuriyeva has won her first victory in the girls’ singles event at the World Summer Universiade.
According to correspondent of Idman.biz in Germany, our representative defeated Egypt’s Jana Abdelkader 2-1 (15-9, 16-18, 15-13) in the round of 32.
Hajar will face Thailand’s Thamonwan Nithittikrai in the round of 16. The match will start tomorrow at 15:40 Baku time.
Other Azerbaijani badminton players, Agil Gabilov and Murad Shabanzade, have been eliminated from the boys’ singles event.
Gabilov lost to Poland’s Jan Wilczak 0-2 (6-15, 10-15) in the round of 32. Shabanzade was defeated by China’s Zhou Xin Yu 0-2 (3-15, 2-15) in the round of 32.
