Azerbaijan's women's national team has won a bronze medal at the BWF AirBadminton European Continental Championships 2026, held in Ancient Olympia, Greece.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation, the team consisting of Nigar Samadova, Hajar Nuriyeva, Viktoriya Kumanyayeva and Keisha Fatima Zahra finished third in the women's triples competition.
Competing in Group C, Azerbaijan defeated Switzerland 3-1 and Croatia 3-0 before suffering a 1-3 defeat to Germany.
The Azerbaijani players finished second in their group and advanced to the knockout stage.
In the quarterfinals, Azerbaijan faced hosts Greece and secured an impressive 3-1 victory, advancing to the semifinals and guaranteeing at least a bronze medal.
The team then met Türkiye in the battle for a place in the final but lost 1-3, finishing the continental championship in third place.
This achievement marks another important success for Azerbaijan in international AirBadminton competitions.
In September 2025, Azerbaijan hosted the inaugural European AirBadminton Championships in Baku, where the national team reached the mixed team final and claimed the silver medal.
With their latest bronze in Greece, Azerbaijani athletes have now secured medals at two consecutive European AirBadminton Championships, further strengthening the country's position in this developing discipline.
