"Salaries were low, we lived on bonuses. Spartak's awards were much more than Dinamo's".
Idman.biz reports that this was said by the former player of the Azerbaijan national team, Velli Kasumov.
In an interview with the Russian "sport24" website, he explained the reasons for the failure of his career in Spartak. The veteran football player, who appeared in only 6 games in the Moscow club, said that in the first four rounds of the championship, he did not get a chance to form because the transfer rights belonged to Neftchi: "If I had been in the squad from the start, then everything would have been different. I would probably always play in the 11. But Beschastnykh started scoring goals, so I didn't get into the team often."
After the failure, Kasumov was transferred to Dynamo in the middle of the championship. He also compared this team with Spartak: “They paid about 500 dollars for a victory in Spartak, and 250 dollars in Dinamo. However, salaries in clubs were the same: 2-3 thousand rubles. We didn't get much money like modern footballers. But perhaps this was the only negative aspect of Dinamo. They had more advantages. First, the new club created luxurious conditions for the players. Dinamo gave me an apartment in Moscow, and then a car. If I'm not mistaken, it was a Volvo. I didn't buy the car because I was going to Spain then."
It should be noted that Kasumov scored 17 goals in 17 games in Dinamo and won the title of the championship's top scorer.
