Former Azerbaijan U21 national team head coach Bernard Lippert is set to return to Baku for the upcoming FIFA U15 World Championship and Festival.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Report.az, the German specialist confirmed that his visit to the Azerbaijani capital is connected with his current role as a FIFA expert.
"I will be in Baku on Wednesday. My visit is related to the U15 World Championship because I work as an expert for FIFA," Lippert said.
The FIFA U15 World Championship and Festival is scheduled to take place from October 22 to 30, with most matches being held at the Hovsan Competition Complex. The opening and final matches will be staged at Baku Crystal Hall.
Lippert is a familiar figure in Azerbaijani football, having spent more than a decade working in various positions within the country's football structure.
From 2009 to 2014, he served as an assistant to his compatriot Berti Vogts, who was then in charge of Azerbaijan's senior national team.
During the same period, Lippert also coached Azerbaijan's U21 national team. In addition, he held the position of technical director at the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) from 2008 to 2020.
After leaving Azerbaijan, the German specialist continued his international career in Ghana, where he served as technical director of the national team from 2020 until October 2023.
His return to Baku comes as Azerbaijan prepares to host a major international youth football event bringing together promising young players from around the world.
