Lamiya Valiyeva: “Competing on the same level as able-bodied athletes is a Real motivation”

“Competing on the same level as able-bodied athletes is truly motivating.”

Azerbaijani athlete Lamiya Valiyeva shared her thoughts with Report following her bronze medal win at the World Athletics bronze-level UNG Meeting held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

“The event was held among able-bodied athletes, so earning a bronze medal brought me immense joy,” Valiyeva said. “But more importantly, I was able to compete on equal footing with them. That’s what keeps me motivated and pushes me to work even harder. It’s true that I hadn’t set the 200m distance as a goal for the past two years, so returning to this event and achieving this result makes it especially meaningful. I believe I’ll deliver even better results next time.”

The 23-year-old athlete completed the 200m race in 24.35 seconds.
