Six countries to compete in Khankendi Ultramarathon

The countries that will be represented at the Khankendi Ultramarathon have been announced.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Report, athletes from six countries will take part in the competition. Along with Azerbaijan, the event will feature participants from Iran, Ukraine, Georgia, Russia and Lithuania.

A total of 100 athletes are expected to compete in the international ultramarathon, which aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and running while showcasing different regions of Azerbaijan through sport.

The 192-kilometre route from Gabala to Khankendi promises a demanding test of the participants' physical fitness and endurance.

The ultramarathon will consist of four stages: Gabala-Aghdash (55 km), Aghdash-Barda (65 km), Barda-Aghdam (44 km) and Aghdam-Khankendi (28 km).

The winners of each stage will be awarded separately, while the overall winners of the ultramarathon will receive the main prizes.

The Khankendi Ultramarathon was first held in 2024 on the Khankendi-Baku route. The 380-kilometre race featured 64 athletes from four countries.

In 2025, the event was held on the Gabala-Khankendi route, with 81 athletes from six countries taking part.

The Khankendi Ultramarathon will be held for the third time in 2026, once again following the Gabala-Khankendi route.
