The opening ceremony of the European Olympic Qualification Tournament was held in Baku.
Idman.biz reports that the event took place before the decisive matches at the National Gymnastics Arena.
The opening ceremony began with the artistic part - the performance of the Talent Show dance group. Later, the flags of the participating countries were brought to the arena and the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.
At the ceremony, the vice-president of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, Namig Aliyev, wished success to the wrestlers.
Theodoros Hamakos, vice-president of the World Wrestling Union (UWW), expressed his satisfaction with being in Azerbaijan and expressed his gratitude for the organization of the competition.
Greco-Roman wrestlers fight on the first day of the tournament. Members of the Azerbaijan national team Nihat Mammadli (60 kg), Islam Abbasov (87 kg), Murad Ahmadiyev (97 kg) and Beka Kandelaki (130 kg) took to the mat. Among them, only Beka Kandelaki protects the license chances.
It should be noted that on April 5, the European Olympic Qualifying Tournament will be concluded with the competition of women's wrestlers, and 1 day later, with the competition of freestyle wrestlers.
