Manchester United identify replacement for goalkeeper who kept clean sheet only against Sabah

Manchester United are considering a move for Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi during the January transfer window.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Tuttomercatoweb, the Premier League club's management are dissatisfied with the performances of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens, who has conceded 23 goals in 13 matches this season.

Remarkably, Azerbaijan's Sabah remain the only team that have failed to score against Lammens. In their Champions League encounter at Old Trafford on September 10, Manchester United defeated the Baku-based club 4-0.

The Belgian goalkeeper conceded at least one goal in each of his other 12 appearances, raising concerns about United's defensive reliability.

Against this backdrop, the Red Devils have turned their attention to 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper Carnesecchi, who extended his contract with Atalanta until 2030 earlier this year, with an option for an additional season.

The Italian international reportedly earns approximately €3 million per year.

Despite his long-term agreement, Manchester United could attempt to secure his services as early as January. However, Atalanta are unlikely to accept a low offer, particularly given their reluctance to sell key players midway through the season.

The potential transfer could therefore prove complicated, although United's interest highlights their determination to strengthen the goalkeeping position.
