Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio loses driving licence for drink-driving

Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio has been banned from driving after being caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Canarias 7, the 23-year-old was stopped while driving on the island of Gran Canaria on August 16.

A breath test reportedly showed 0.90 milligrams of alcohol per litre of exhaled air, well above the permitted limit of 0.25 mg/l.

Asencio was fined €14,400 and had his driving licence suspended for eight months.

The Real Madrid player is also due to appear at a hearing in the coming days in a separate case involving three other former members of the club's youth team. The case concerns allegations of distributing sexually explicit videos involving two women without their consent.

According to the report, prosecutors are expected to drop the charges against Asencio if the alleged victims confirm in court that they forgive him. In that case, the footballer would not be convicted in the proceedings, in which he is alleged to have played a secondary role.

Asencio made his Real Madrid first-team debut in 2024. He has since made 80 appearances for the Madrid club, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
