Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi made his first appearance in an official match since the death of his father, Jorge Messi.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the 39-year-old came on in the second half of the Leagues Cup match against Mexican side Leon.
The Argentine star spent the first half on the bench. After the break, Messi came on and registered three shots in 45 minutes, completed 24 passes with an 80% accuracy rate, created four key passes and took five corners.
Messi's return could not save his team from defeat. Inter Miami lost 3-2 to Leon and were eliminated from the Leagues Cup.
Jorge Messi died at the age of 68 after a long illness.
