Retired Azerbaijani weightlifter Zulfugar Suleymanov has shared his thoughts on his recent success at the European Masters Championship held in Durrës, Albania.
In an interview with Idman.biz, Suleymanov reflected on becoming the continental champion after a 12-year break, setting a new record, and his future plans.
He noted that although he had been handed a lifetime ban for doping, the sanction was lifted last year. Motivated by this second chance, he committed to intense preparation for the European Championship and believed strongly in a successful return.
“If my comeback had failed,” Suleymanov said, “I couldn’t have forgiven myself.”
