Azerbaijani athlete's lifetime disqualification canceled - EXCLUSIVE

The lifetime disqualification of Zulfugar Suleymanov, the former weightlifter of the Azerbaijani national team, was considered to have ended.

Idman.biz reports that the decision was made by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

The institution took such a step based on the new anti-doping rules adopted in 2021. According to that innovation, the penalties imposed for doping for the second time have been reduced. Those who received a severe disqualification under the previous rule have the right to apply to the IWF for reconsideration.

Suleymanov, who was sentenced to 4 years in September 2010, returned to the clavicle early after this disqualification was eased, but in 2013 he was "stuck" in doping again. As a second punishment, he was given a lifetime disqualification.

Considering Suleymanov's punishment with the application of new rules, the IWF considered his second disqualification to have expired. A veteran weightlifter can now work in various areas of this sport.
