"Azerrail" club, women volleyball team, has started forming its team for the new season. The Baku representative who will represent our country in the Challenge Cup has already agreed on a new head coach.
The negotiations with the experienced Turkish specialist Cengiz Akarçeşme ended positively and a 1-year contract was signed with him, İdman.biz reports. He has set the goal of high places in the Azerbaijan championship and maximum results in the European Cup.
Before "Azerrail", he trainer was "behind the steering wheel" of the clubs of the brother country. He started his career 27 years ago at "Vakifbank". In 1999-2001, he was the head coach of "Gazi University". After Akarçeşme, he performed the function of the second coach in "Ihtisas" club. At the same time, he worked as an assistant in the U-17 and U-18 teams of Turkey in 2001-2005. In 2006-2007, the specialist who worked as a manager in the main team of Turkey returned to "Gazi University" in 2008-2009 and became the head coach.
In the 2013/2014 and 2017/2018 seasons, "Halkbank" appeared under the leadership of the new head coach of "Azerrail". He coached "Shop Kalecik" in 2020-2021 and "Edremit Municipality Altınoluk" in the next season. Akarçeşme, who was the head coach of "Mert Group Insurance" in 2021-2022, led the "Adam" volleyball club in the last season.
It should be noted that "Azerrail" will face Ukraine's "Balta" team in the Challenge Cup. The matches that will take place within the 1/32 final will be held in October.
