Polina Rahimova, who has ended her playing career with the Azerbaijan national team, has expressed her readiness to work with the team as a coach.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the experienced volleyball player made the statement in an interview with the federation's press service.
Rahimova called on fans to continue supporting the national team and stressed that she would be ready to help as a coach if needed.
"Please continue to support the national team. I am not saying goodbye to volleyball. If I am needed and invited to the national team, I am ready to help as a coach. I would also like to invite everyone to the summer camp. For three weeks, I will hold masterclasses for children in three different age groups. I would be very happy to see you all there," Rahimova said.
The experienced opposite hitter also reflected on her 15-year career with the national team and the achievements she recorded during that period.
"I have ended my career with the national team. I played for the team for 15 years. I competed in four Olympic qualification campaigns, two World Championships and nine European Championship final tournaments. I set a world record for points. With this record, I raised my country's flag as high as possible because no one has broken it yet," she said.
Rahimova also shared her thoughts on the future of Azerbaijan's younger generation of players.
"I hope our young national team continues to develop. There are local players in the team now, and that is very valuable. It is wonderful to see that volleyball continues to live in Azerbaijan. It makes me very proud and inspires me. People are working on this, and I am also happy that I was able to contribute," she added.
Rahimova thanked everyone who supported her throughout her career.
"Thank you to everyone. It was a wonderful story in my life. I am closing my book and starting a new one. Life goes on. Thank you very much," she concluded.
Rahimova has represented the Azerbaijan national team since 2007.
