Azerbaijan's men's national volleyball team is set to face one of the leaders of the CEV European Silver League.
The next round of matches in the tournament will be held in Baku from June 13 to 15, Idman.biz reports.
The team, led by Farid Jalalov, will open their home campaign with a match against Luxembourg. The opponent has made a strong start to the tournament, defeating Austria 3-1 and Iceland 3-0, securing two victories.
With 6 points, the Luxembourg team currently sits in second place in the standings, trailing only Sweden due to set difference.
There is a history between the men’s volleyball teams of Azerbaijan and Luxembourg. The two sides have faced each other three times in the past: Azerbaijan won both matches in the European Championship qualifiers but lost 2-3 in last year’s European Golden League.
This upcoming match presents a good opportunity to take revenge for that defeat.
On June 15, Azerbaijan will also face Hungary in Baku.
It should be noted that the national team began the tournament in Umea, Sweden, where they lost 0-3 to the hosts but then defeated Georgia 3-0.
