Turkish volleyball coach Gokhan Edman has been appointed head coach of Azerbaijan's junior and youth girls' national teams.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation announced that an agreement had been reached with the experienced Turkish specialist.
Under Edman's guidance, Türkiye's youth girls' national team became European champions in the 2011/12 season and finished fifth at the World Championship in 2012/13.
During his career, Edman has also coached Türkiye's senior, A2, youth and junior national teams. His achievements include a Balkan championship title and several triumphs at the Spring Cup.
At club level, Edman has worked as head coach of Eczacibasi, Galatasaray, VakifBank Gunes Sigorta and Sariyer Belediyespor.
He led Eczacibasi to victory in the European Confederation Cup, now known as the CEV Cup, in the 1998/99 season before finishing third in the European Champions League the following campaign. Edman also won bronze in the European Confederation Cup with Galatasaray and twice guided Eczacibasi's senior women's team to the Turkish championship title.
A graduate of Marmara University, Edman has also spent many years as an instructor at coaching courses organised by the Turkish Volleyball Federation. He previously served as a member of the federation's Mini Volleyball and Women's National Teams Technical Committee.
