Columbus Crew defeated Inter Miami 2-1 in their latest Major League Soccer (MLS) match.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the game, played in Columbus on the night of September 27-28, ended with a dramatic stoppage-time victory for the hosts.
Columbus Crew opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Martin Mendez converted a penalty he had earned himself to put his team ahead.
However, the lead lasted only five minutes. In the 33rd minute, Lionel Messi equalised with a superb free kick from a tight angle to make it 1-1.
The decisive moments came deep into stoppage time. In the 90+6th minute, Inter Miami's Morales received a second yellow card for time-wasting and was sent off.
Columbus Crew immediately took advantage of their numerical superiority. In the 90+8th minute, the Inter Miami goalkeeper initially saved a shot, but Tiare reacted quickest to the rebound and scored the winner for the hosts.
Following the victory, Columbus Crew moved up to 12th place in the Eastern Conference with 29 points. Inter Miami remain third with 46 points.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan national team forward Nariman Akhundzade is under contract with Columbus Crew. The Azerbaijani footballer is currently playing for Turkish club Erzurumspor on loan.
