“Our match against the Azerbaijan team will be a battle of different styles.”
Idman.biz reports that these words were said by Gido Vermeulen, head coach of Sweden’s men’s national volleyball team, ahead of the start of the European Silver League.
In the competition, on June 6, the hosts from Umea, Sweden will face the team coached by Farid Jalalov. Vermeulen expressed his anticipation for the clash of different volleyball schools:
“The playing style of the Azerbaijan team is different from ours. While we play strong and at a high level, the opponent demonstrates fast volleyball and strong defense. But we will try to prove that we are better at home.”
He also noted that they have less information about the other group rival, the Georgia national team:
“We have little information about Georgia, but we are eagerly looking forward to their match against Azerbaijan on Saturday.”
Vermeulen evaluated his team’s current condition as well:
“The preparation is going according to plan. The players have improved their form individually during the club season and have completed their ‘homework.’ We are developing as a team and taking steps towards progress,” the coach of the Swedish national team concluded.
