Azerbaijani women's volleyball team coach: “Both matches were exciting despite the losses”

“We’ll do our best to win in the next games,” said Famil Agayev, assistant coach of Azerbaijan’s women’s national volleyball team, after their back-to-back defeats in the first round of the CEV European Golden League held in Baku.

Idman.biz reports that in a statement to the press service of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation, Agayev shared his thoughts on the team’s losses to Hungary and Slovenia:
“Although we lost 0:3 to Slovenia, it was an intense match. I believe we still managed to showcase a good game for the audience.”

Addressing the reasons behind the defeats, he noted:
“If we had played against Hungary the way we did against Slovenia, the result might have been different. We made too many mistakes. Perhaps there was pressure since it was the first match. Some of our key players weren’t available. If they had been here, we might have seen a stronger performance and a win. Still, I thank our current players—they gave it their all.”

Agayev emphasized the importance of moving forward:
“Every victory pushes a team ahead. We will now prepare for the second round, even though we don’t have much time.”

Azerbaijan is set to play four away matches: against Slovakia on June 6, Montenegro on June 7, Croatia on June 13, and Romania on June 14.
