The head of World Taekwondo, Chungwon Choue, awarded Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev the ninth dan black belt.
After receiving the belt, Tokayev broke a wooden board with a single strike, Idman.biz reports.
The Press Service of the President of Kazakhstan reported: “The President signed the training board and then, at Chungwon Choue’s request, broke the board in accordance with taekwondo traditions.”
The ninth dan black belt is considered the highest rank in taekwondo.
The meeting between Tokayev and Choue took place in Astana on the eve of the start of the G1 category international tournament "Kazakhstan Open 2025."
