Nijat Ismayilzada (74 kg) defeated Elia Poersch (Germany) but lost in the round of 16 to Yi Jui Chiu (Chinese Taipei).
Nargiz Kazimova (62 kg) was defeated by Elsa Secanell (Spain) in her opening match.
Hamidreza Badri Aliabadi (+87 kg) eliminated Brian Choi (USA) in his first bout. He will face Uzbekistan's Marat Mavlonov in the quarterfinals.
