At the Universiade held in Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region, Azerbaijani taekwondo athletes joined the competition today.
As reported by special correspondent of Idman.biz in Germany, Salima Guliyeva (46 kg) won her first match against Nigeria’s representative Shukurat Abdulsalam and advanced to the round of 16.
However, in this stage, she was defeated by Brazilian athlete Julia Silva Nazario and ended her campaign.
Three other Azerbaijani athletes lost their opening matches: Leyla Bashirova (57 kg) was defeated by Hungarian competitor Luca Patakfalvy, Khidir Mammadov (54 kg) lost to Macau’s Iek Hei Chan, and Vagif Hajiyev (68 kg) was beaten by German athlete Jona Porsch.
