The coach of Azerbaijan’s junior taekwondo team, Farida Azizova, expressed hope that her athletes will win medals at the upcoming European Youth Summer Olympic Festival (EYOF) to be held in Skopje, North Macedonia.
Speaking to the official website of the National Olympic Committee, Azizova noted that taekwondo will be included in the EYOF program for the first time: “This is a new addition to the 34-year history of the festival. Our team will participate with 8 athletes, 5 boys and 3 girls. The squad includes both experienced and promising athletes. We’ve already competed in two tournaments this year, which served as preparation for EYOF. The team is now in the final stage of training. Naturally, this is a competition and making predictions is difficult. But our athletes are working hard in training and are in good shape. We have athletes who are capable of achieving results. I hope our team will return home with medals.”
Taekwondo events at EYOF will take place from July 23 to 25 at the University of Physical Education in Skopje.
