The opening ceremony of the "Let's Swim Together" competition was held at the Baku Aquatics Palace.

Idman.biz reports that the event was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, President of Azerbaijan Cycling Federation Madat Guliyev and Director of Baku Aquatics Palace Zaur Yagubov.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, who opened the ceremony with an opening speech, emphasized that the "Let's Swim Together" competition was held for the second time: "The number of our swimmers has increased compared to last year. The number of swimming pools operating in our country has reached 35. There are also participants from Turkey in this competition. During the year A series of events were held together with the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation. We also held a project called "Let's learn to swim" in schools with the aim of developing the sport of swimming among teenagers and young people.

Later, the National Anthem was played and the dear memory of the martyrs who died for our territorial integrity was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Rashad Abdurakhmanov, chief judge of the "Let's Swim Together" competition, said that swimmers from a number of Olympic sports complexes also participated.

After the official part, the tournament was declared open. A total of 1,350 participants competed in the competitions held simultaneously in 35 sports facilities across the country.

By different age groups over 9 years old (9-10 years old, 11-12 years old, 13-14 years old, 15-16 years old, 17-19 years old, 20-24 years old, 25-29 years old, 30-34 years old, 35- 39 years old, 40-44 years old, 45-49 years old, 50-54 years old, 55-59 years old and over 60 years old) swimmers competed in a total of 14 age categories.
