Azerbaijani para taekwondo athlete Sabir Zeynalov has won the gold medal at the Grand Prix in Muju, South Korea.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Zeynalov, competing in the K44 category at 58 kg, defeated Brazil's Gustavo Ruppel in the final to claim the title.
The Azerbaijani enjoyed a successful run throughout the competition. He overcame Japan's Tanaka Mitsuya in the quarterfinals to secure a place among the tournament's top four athletes.
Zeynalov then defeated Chinese Taipei's Xiang Wen in the semifinal to book his place in the decisive bout before completing his campaign with victory over Ruppel.
Azerbaijan is also represented at the competition by Imamaddin Khalilov, who competes in the K44 70 kg category.
The Azerbaijani team is competing in Muju under the guidance of head coach Farid Taghizade.
The Muju Para Taekwondo Grand Prix carries ranking points towards qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Paralympic Games, making Zeynalov's triumph an important result on the road to LA28.
