Russian mountaineer Natalya Nagovitsina has died in Kyrgyzstan after getting stranded on the Victory Peak at an altitude of 7,000 meters with a broken leg.

The mountaineer was injured during the descent on August 12, Idman.biz reports.

Her body can only be retrieved by helicopter once the weather conditions improve.

For this reason, the rescue team assigned to Nagovitsina’s body has been called back from their positions at an altitude of 4,500 meters.

Four years ago, Nagovitsina’s husband became paralyzed while climbing Khan Tengri. At that time, only Natalya, who was with him, could be evacuated. A year later, the mountaineer returned to the same peak and placed a plaque in memory of her husband.
