UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje has confirmed that he will not fight again in 2026.
İdman.Biz reports that the American fighter revealed his plans in an interview with former UFC champion Demetrious Johnson.
“I've already fought twice, and I have a badly bruised knee. I still can't punch. I need to recover properly. I won't fight again before the end of the year, I know that for sure,” Gaethje said.
Earlier this summer, Gaethje captured the UFC lightweight title by defeating Ilia Topuria at the UFC event held at the White House.
The 37-year-old will now focus on recovery before preparing for his next title defence in 2027.
