New head coach: "We will make it"

"Our main goal is to raise karate as high as we can."

Shahin Atamov, the new head coach of Azerbaijan's karate team, told Idman.biz.

The three-time winner of the World Championship commented on his appointment. Atamov, who previously performed the same position in the youth national team, expressed confidence that our karate players will soon have successful performances: "Our team is waiting for the Premier League competition in Antalya, Turkiye. After that, we will participate in the European Championship in Croatia in May. One of our main goals is to get a good result in this race. At the end of the year, there is the world championship. Team competitions will be held for the first time in the World Cup. Here, our main goal is to raise the name and flag of Azerbaijan. We have already started our work in this direction and will continue according to the plan. The important thing now is not to be left out of ranking competitions and to improve our position by collecting high points in these tournaments. This is our primary goal. I believe that we will succeed by working hard."

It should be noted that Atamov replaced Gurban Taghiyev in this position. The former head coach was appointed vice-president of WKF in the Azerbaijan Karate Federation.
