The first application to the "Grand Slam" in Baku - world champions, finalists

The first request to participate in the judo "Grand Slam" to be held at the National Gymnastics Arena came from the Canadian national team.

Idman.biz reports that the North Americans have ordered 11 judokas to the Organizing Committee for the competition to be held in Baku on February 16-18 next year.

Among them are two-time world champion Krista Deguchi, world champion Jessica Klimkate (both 57 kg) and runner-up Kyle Reyes (100 kg).

Athletes who perform successfully in the "Grand Slam" will receive ranking points for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games. For this reason, the Canadian national team will come to Baku with the strongest.

Canada's squad:

Men: Julien Fraskadore (66 kg), Arthur Margelidon (73 kg), Francois Gaute-Drapeau (81 kg), Louis Kleber-Ganon, Mohab Elhanas (both 90 kg), Kyle Reyes, Shadi Elhanas (both 100 kg) .

Women: Kelly Deguchi (52kg), Krista Deguchi, Jessica Klimkate (both 57kg), Catherine Bechamin-Pinar (63kg).

It should be noted that 446 judokas from 61 countries competed in the "Grand Slam" held in Baku this year. It is possible that this number will increase in the next tournament.
