Number of participants for World Judo Championships in Baku revealed

The number of countries and athletes set to participate in the World Judo Championships in Baku has been announced.

As reported by İdman.Biz, according to official data from the International Judo Federation (IJF), a total of 531 judokas representing 83 countries from five continents are expected to compete at the tournament, which will take place from October 4 to 10.

The entry list includes 277 male and 254 female athletes. Countries affiliated with the European Judo Union will be represented by 254 judokas, while 154 athletes will compete from Asian Judo Union member nations.

The Pan American Judo Confederation will have 77 representatives, with 34 judokas coming from Africa and 12 from Oceania.

World titles will be contested in seven men's weight categories – 60 kg, 66 kg, 73 kg, 81 kg, 90 kg, 100 kg and +100 kg – and seven women's divisions – 48 kg, 52 kg, 57 kg, 63 kg, 70 kg, 78 kg and +78 kg.

The opening day of the championships will feature the men's 60 kg and women's 48 kg categories. The competition will conclude with the men's +100 kg and women's +78 kg divisions.

The seven-day World Championships will be held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.
