Azerbaijani acrobats off to strong start at World Cup – UPDATED – PHOTO

Azerbaijani acrobats have kicked off the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku with a successful performance.

In the mixed pairs competition, Sabir Agayev and Milana Aliyeva began their campaign with a tempo routine, earning 27.360 points and placing third in the qualification round, Idman.biz reports.

In the men’s group event, the team of Rasul Seyidli, Riad Safarov, Seymur Jafarov, and Abdulla Al-Mashaykhi finished fifth in the balance routine qualification, scoring 25.030 points. The Ukrainian team currently leads the standings.

Azerbaijani acrobats have made an impressive start at the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup taking place in Baku.

In the women’s group competition, the Azerbaijani trio of Nazrin Zeyniyeva, Anahita Bashiri, and Zohra Rashidova secured first place in the balance routine qualification round.

Scoring 28.650 points, they outperformed the teams from Ukraine, China, and Germany.

In the men’s pair event, Murad Rafiyev and Daniel Abbasov placed second in the tempo routine qualification, earning 27.300 points. They were only edged out by the Kazakh pair of Daniel Dil and Vadim Shulyar.

63 athletes from 7 countries are competing in this edition of the World Cup.

The Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup has officially started in Baku.

The opening ceremony began with a parade of the participating teams, Idman.biz reports.

The flags of the participating countries – Azerbaijan, China, Germany, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, India, and Uzbekistan – were displayed on the monitor of the National Gymnastics Arena.

Following the parade, the athletes began their performances.

Azerbaijan is represented at the event by the following athletes: mixed pairs Raziyya Seyidli – Agasif Rahimov and Milana Aliyeva – Sabir Agayev; the men's pair Murad Rafiyev – Daniel Abbasov; the men's group consisting of Rasul Seyidli, Riad Safarov, Seymur Jafarov, and Abdulla Al-Mashaykhi; and the women's group made up of Nazrin Zeyniyeva, Anahita Bashiri, and Zohra Rashidova.

The Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup will continue until June 15.
