Azerbaijani gymnasts Mikhail Malkin and Tofig Aliyev qualified for the finals of the World Trampoline Gymnastics and Tumbling Championships held in Birmingham.
Idman.biz reports that, based on the results of the qualifying round, 3 of the Azerbaijani athletes advanced to the semi-finals.
In the semifinals, Malkin again scored 30,400 points, the best result among all participants. The judges evaluated the performance of both Aliyev and Hajizade with 29,200 points. Tofiq ranked fourth, and Adil ranked fifth. Thus, Aliyev and Malkin will fight together.
No more than two athletes from each country can qualify for the final in an individual competition.
It should be noted that on November 10, the Azerbaijani tumbling team consisting of Mikhail Malkin, Adil Hajizade, Elnur Mammadov and Tofig Aliyev won the team tournament at the World Championship for the first time in history.
