The “Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025” has become the most-watched race in the history of the event’s U.S. television broadcasts.

ESPN, which holds the long-term broadcasting rights for Formula 1 in the United States, recorded unprecedented audience numbers, Idman.biz reports.

The main race, held on September 21, attracted nearly 1.1 million viewers in its live broadcast — the highest figure ever for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on American television.

The race started in the morning hours U.S. time. The previous record was set in 2021 with 970,000 viewers, while in 2024 the figure stood at 865,000.

Overall, the 2025 season has seen Formula 1 races on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC average 1.4 million viewers, the highest in U.S. broadcasting history. The prior record was 1.21 million in 2022.

The “Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix” took place in Baku from September 19–21, with Red Bull driver Max Verstappen claiming victory.
