Hadjar: Baku suited our car, Sepang will show our true level

Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar believes the team’s performance at the upcoming race at Sepang will provide a better indication of its true level following the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

As reported by İdman.Biz, Hadjar noted that the characteristics of the Baku City Circuit suited the Red Bull car, while the team’s latest upgrade also contributed to its performance.

“I think Baku suited our car anyway, and the upgrade played its part. But trying it on a more traditional circuit like Sepang will give us a clearer understanding of where we stand,” Hadjar was quoted as saying by RacingNews365.

The French driver expects Red Bull to face a tougher challenge this weekend but believes fighting for the podium would be a significant achievement.

“On this track, I expect us to be less competitive. But if we can still fight for the podium this weekend, that would be very good,” he added.

Hadjar will also face an additional challenge after confirming that he is set to receive a five-place grid penalty.

“For me, the situation is a little more complicated because I have to take a five-place grid penalty. But even with that, I think if you have the race pace, you can still make up positions. If not, then we’re simply not fast enough. That’s it,” Hadjar said.

The race at the Sepang International Circuit is scheduled for October 4.
