Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has shared his thoughts ahead of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Monegasque spoke at a press conference about his rivalry with teammate Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari's preparations for the race weekend in Baku.
"It is natural that everything gets overanalysed and that conclusions drawn after battles like this are often wrong. To understand the situation, you simply need to speak to Lewis. We have been doing this all our lives.
"We both want to win and there is healthy competition between us. But at the same time, as a team, we want Ferrari to be on top. That is our main priority.
"I enjoy fighting with Lewis, and that is what makes it exciting. The most exciting thing in Formula 1 is competing against the best, and Lewis is one of them. It is a big challenge for me, but I enjoy it," Leclerc said.
The Ferrari driver also stressed that qualifying remains one of the team's main areas for improvement.
"Qualifying is probably where we struggle the most in terms of car performance. If we can make progress there, my hopes for the race will increase. But before thinking about that, I believe we need to prepare properly for the weekend.
"There can be big differences from one round to another, and a lot depends on how well we can optimise the power unit. Track conditions will also play a major role, so that is where we need to focus our attention."
Leclerc added that he enjoys racing on the Baku City Circuit, although race days have often proved more difficult for him than qualifying.
"I enjoy driving in Baku. Saturdays have generally been successful for me, but Sundays, the main races, have been more difficult. I hope we can overcome that this time," he said.
The Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place from September 24 to 26.
