Formula 1 and the International Automobile Federation (FIA) have announced the calendar for the 2027 Formula 1 World Championship following its approval by the World Motor Sport Council.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing the Baku City Circuit Operating Company, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place on September 24-26.
The 2027 season will begin with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 12-14, while the final round of the championship will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on December 10-12.
The championship will feature 24 rounds across 22 countries. Another significant change for 2027 will be an increase in the number of sprint events from six to 10.
The first official pre-season testing session will take place at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain from February 24 to 27.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said the 2027 calendar brings together some of the world's most famous circuits and dynamic cities.
"The 2027 calendar creates a fantastic stage for another unforgettable Formula 1 season, bringing together some of the world's most famous circuits and most dynamic cities. We are delighted to welcome Portugal and Türkiye back to the championship and to increase the number of sprint events to 10. This promises fans even more intense competition, dramatic moments and wheel-to-wheel battles that make Formula 1 so special," Domenicali said.
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix has become one of the most recognisable events on the Formula 1 calendar, with the Baku City Circuit known for combining high-speed sections with the narrow streets of the Azerbaijani capital.
