Hans Zimmer explains how Lewis Hamilton influenced the soundtrack for the film F1

Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer, who wrote the soundtrack for the film F1, shared details of his work on the project and explained the role played by seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton in shaping its musical identity, Idman.Biz reports.

The film’s music was nominated for the 2026 Golden Globe Award in the category of Best Original Soundtrack and was also shortlisted for the Academy Awards in the same category.

According to Zimmer, discussions with Hamilton about what it feels like to be inside the car and to be a racing driver were a key element of the creative process.

"I spoke a lot with Lewis about what it means to be inside the car, what it means to be that person. That had a huge influence on the character of the film’s musical identity. It combines danger with incredible elegance. One of my tasks is to make the sound in the cinema create the feeling of a real race, because what you hear is just as important as what you see," Zimmer said on the Apple TV YouTube channel.
