McLaren has banned Oscar Piastri from giving interviews to Australian outlets ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. As reported by CODE Sports and relayed by Idman.Biz, the team’s restrictive decision has sparked significant backlash within the media.
Several journalists expressed strong criticism, calling the move the worst form of treatment Piastri has faced in his career. One insider, speaking anonymously due to job security concerns, noted that he had never witnessed a potential world champion being so publicly weakened by his own team.
Another journalist went further, describing the situation as “disgusting,” adding that Piastri appears to be competing “with one hand tied behind his back” as McLaren continues to undermine him. According to him, the bias within the team towards the Australian driver is “undeniable.”
