McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has called for a review of Formula 1 racing rules following a series of controversial steward decisions.
According to Idman.Biz, the Australian criticized the inconsistency in penalties and the manipulation of rules.
The incident occurred at the first corner in Las Vegas, where Liam Lawson collided with Piastri but escaped punishment. The stewards ruled that the Racing Bulls driver was avoiding a collision with George Russell.
“I won’t even try to make sense of it. Adjustments are needed because some drivers are using the rules to their advantage. Incidents occur that we don’t want to see in races,” Piastri told Racing News 365.
The 24-year-old driver highlighted the contrast with his own 10-second penalty in São Paulo for a maneuver against Kimi Antonelli. Discussions on the rules between drivers and the FIA are scheduled for the Qatar Grand Prix weekend.
