At the RM Sotheby’s auction held in Las Vegas during the Formula 1 Grand Prix, a Gordon Murray Special Vehicles (GMSV) S1 LM supercar was sold.

According to Idman.Biz, the company was founded by renowned engineer Gordon Murray, who spent many years working with the Formula 1 teams Brabham and McLaren, and later designed the legendary McLaren F1 supercar.

The sale price reached $20.6 million, which, according to Motor1, set a record for a new car sold at a public auction.

The GMSV S1 LM supercar was unveiled in August this year at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Its design is reminiscent of the McLaren F1 and it is powered by a 4.3-liter Cosworth V12 engine producing 700 hp, while weighing just 957 kg. GMSV plans to build five such cars, and the buyer of the auctioned model will have the opportunity to participate in the construction and testing of their car. Four-time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti will also take part in these tests.
