"It was clearly evident that Omonia had a strong attacking line. We also felt it in last year's match against Zira."
According to Idman.biz, these words were said by former Azerbaijani national team player Yashar Vakhabzade in a statement to Sport24.az.
The experienced coach shared his thoughts on Araz-Nakhchivan’s 0-4 home loss to Cypriot side Omonia in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round: "Araz-Nakhchivan had weak team defending. This is football, such matches are inevitable. From now on, the team must regroup and prepare well mentally for the match in Cyprus. This game needs to be forgotten."
He also commented on Sabah’s 0-1 away defeat to Bulgarian side Levski in the same round of the Conference League: "Sabah played on equal terms. Had they been slightly more precise in attack, they could have scored. They lost concentration in the final seconds. Perhaps it was due to fatigue. But nothing is over yet in this tie. Sabah can still win in the return leg."
The return matches will take place on August 14.
