The away match against North Macedonian club Shkendija in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round will be a tough one for Qarabag.
Former Qarabag player Vagif Javadov stated this in an interview with Report news agency, Idman.biz reports.
The 36-year-old specialist emphasized the strength of the North Macedonian team: “The away game against Shkendija will be difficult for Qarabag. Shkendija eliminated a strong team in the previous round. Their president had even claimed that they would defeat Qarabag with a big score. But the opposite happened, they failed to advance. It shows that Shkendija is a strong opponent. I believe Qarabag understands this. Gurban Gurbanov also mentioned that the opponent is a quality team. That’s why I believe they will take the match seriously and achieve a positive result. I wish Qarabag success.”
The Shkendija vs Qarabag match will kick off today at 22:00 Baku time. The return leg, to be held at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium on August 12, will start at 20:00.
