“There were actually several offers. But the project at Səbail, head coach Elvin Mammadov’s attitude towards me, and the trust shown by the management were decisive factors in my decision. After discussions with the club, I believed I could be useful here because Sabail’s goals align with my personal ambitions.”
According to İdman.biz, these thoughts were expressed by Sabail’s new signing Sabayil Bagyrov in an interview with futbolinfo.az.
The 30-year-old defender also spoke about the team’s upcoming goals: “My main goal is to be as useful as possible to the team, to show leadership on the pitch, and to contribute to the club’s return to the Premier League. I will try to become one of the standout players both within the team and in the championship through my performance. We will fight for the title by justifying the trust shown to me by coach Elvin and the management. I’m confident that with this belief and unity, we’ll reach our goal. I enjoy taking responsibility on the field and am happy to take on a leadership role. My primary focus is consistency, determination, and performances that will drive the team forward.”
Bagyrov also touched on parting ways with Shamakhi: “Football is a constantly moving field, and sometimes parting ways is natural. I left Shamakhi by mutual agreement. The fans and the city are amazing. I made great friends there, and the city will always remain unforgettable for me. I have truly valuable memories. I’m grateful for the time I spent there, but a new chapter has begun, and my full focus is now on Səbail.”
