“My departure from Sabail was based on professional reasons. Staying in the Premier League seemed a more suitable step for my career. I spoke with the club management, and they understood my decision to remain in the top division. We parted ways with mutual agreement.”
These remarks were made by goalkeeper Huseynali Guliyev in an interview with Futbolinfo.az, Idman.biz reports.
The 25-year-old revealed that the offer from his new club, Imishli, came about a week ago through his manager. “We discussed the matter in detail and felt it would be a right step for my future. At this stage, my main goal is to get more game time. The fact that Imishli aims to contribute significantly to Azerbaijani football gave me extra motivation.”
Speaking about his first impressions, Guliyev emphasized the warm and communicative environment within the team: “From the very first day, I felt a positive atmosphere. Since this is a newly promoted club to the Premier League, it’s natural to face some challenges. But I believe that in time everything will settle, and the team will gain stability.”
The young goalkeeper also stated that he will compete for a place in the starting lineup at his new club: “I’ll do everything I can to become the team’s main goalkeeper. Healthy competition has always driven me forward. It promotes personal growth and strengthens the team, which is a positive factor.”
Guliyev added that the coaching staff is working hard to instill their footballing philosophy in the players: “Every coach aims to succeed by implementing their system and style of play. As players, we must carry out our tasks correctly to build a successful team.”
Finally, the young goalkeeper touched on his personal ambitions: “Each player in Imishli will carry a lot of responsibility in our debut Premier League season. Personally, I aim to progress as far as possible in my career and reach higher levels. Playing abroad is also one of my goals. Being called up to the national team has been a dream since childhood. I hope I can achieve all the goals I’ve set for myself in football.”
