"I didn't tell anybody in my family about joining the army. They called in between, the phone was not working well. I used to make excuses that I couldn't hear clearly, I was somewhere else."
Idman.biz reports that "Gabala" football player Asif Mammadov said this.
The captain of his team told the press service of PFL about his participation in the 44-day Patriotic War in connection with Agdam City Day. He said that during the battles, there was a distance of 150-200 meters between the Armenian posts: "A volunteer group of 30 people was formed. We were needed, it was necessary to go to the posts and help. It was the defensive post of Aghdam, which everyone knew. It was reported that the enemy planned to attack that post. When we reached the post, unfortunately, we already had martyrs and wounded. Since Mushfig Abbasov went ahead, he was also martyred. I would say he is a hero. So if you go there, you risk your life. Saying there was no fear, well, there was. Even if there is no experience, something, someone tell you to take this step. The feeling of fear is forgotten after half an hour or 1 hour."
According to him, he tried to evacuate 2 wounded people from Mingechevir: "Besides, we were evacuating the ashes of our martyrs from the battlefield. Although I am proud of it, I think that it was my duty. We were the 4 closest people to Mushfig Abbasov - his son, my aunt's son Elshan... That's why everyone asked us how it happened?".
Mammadov emphasized that after the end of the war, he went to the village he left at the age of 6: "When I reached our village, I packed the house with a vivid image. They said that you have found the address, you are right on the house. Our village is really beautiful - "Abdalgulabli" village of Agdam. Hopefully, we will return to the village, we will form a good football team, we will do whatever we can."
