FIFA has announced a number of innovations that will be implemented during the 2025 Club World Cup.
The tournament will be held in the United States and will start on June 14, Idman.biz reports.
During the World Cup, referees will wear video cameras on their bodies that record the progress of the match. The footage will be made available to the official broadcaster of the tournament and will be used in live broadcasts. If the footage obtained from the referees' point of view is successful, this innovation will be implemented in all major international tournaments.
In addition, fans will be able to watch live on the stadium monitors what the referee sees when he watches the episode on the field. These images will be broadcast live on giant screens, which will make it easier for fans to understand how decisions are made and increase the transparency of the referee's activities.
As previously reported, modern semi-automatic offside technology will also be implemented, which sends sound signals to the sidelines referees in obvious offside situations.
Another innovation is the use of tablets for substitutions. These tablets will replace the traditional paper documents and manual transmission of information. Before the match, each team will be provided with a tablet to manage substitution requests in a digital format, which should simplify and speed up the substitution process.
